In the Countenance of Kings Ballet Performance
Justin Peck, one of today's hottest choreographers, created the ballet "In the Countenance of Kings" in 2016. Grand Rapids Ballet performed it on Saturday, May 2, at 7:30 p.m. at the Peter Martin Wege Theatre. The music was composed by Michigan native indie musician Sufjan Stevens.
"In the Countenance of Kings" is a unique ballet that blends Justin Peck's fresh contemporary choreography with classical ballet technique. The music by Sufjan Stevens adds a special energy to the piece. Grand Rapids Ballet brought this stunning work to the stage on May 2 at the Peter Martin Wege Theatre, offering a special meeting point of dance artistry and modern music to the audience.
