Eureka Day: Jonathan Spector's Tony-winning play gets its Michigan premiere at Detroit Public Theatre
A progressive elementary school, a mumps outbreak and a community that can't agree on what's true. Detroit Public Theatre stages the Michigan premiere of Jonathan Spector's Tony Award-winning, bitingly funny Eureka Day on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at 2 p.m., at 3960 Third Avenue in Detroit. The run has 22 performances.
What do you do when facts turn subjective and every fix divides the room? How do you build consensus when nobody can agree on the truth? Jonathan Spector's Tony Award-winning play is set at a progressive elementary school where a mumps outbreak puts the community's ideals to the test. It's timely, sharp and bitingly funny, and this is its Michigan premiere.
Detroit Public Theatre runs it for 22 performances, and seven of them are followed by a talkback. The theatre is at 3960 Third Avenue in Detroit.
