Tree Lighting Ceremony
Grosse Pointe War Memorial kicks off the season with its Tree Lighting Ceremony on Sunday, November 22, at 4 p.m. in Grosse Pointe Farms. A 20-foot decorated tree, live ice sculpting, and a vintage holiday market set the mood; the main event is free with registration. Santa visits in the ballroom are $5 per child.
Doors open at 4 p.m.; the tree lights at 5:30 p.m. by the fountain. Expect hot chocolate, caroling, and hands-on crafts. The Vintage Holiday Market runs 4–7 p.m. in the Alger House rooms, and a Holiday Craft Station is open 4–7 p.m. in the Grosse Pointe Artists Association Art Gallery. Live ice sculpting happens out front—then grab a family photo. Gingerbread competition voting will be open in time for the ceremony.
New this year: Santa visits in the ballroom after the ceremony. A limited number of pre-registration slots are available; walk-ups are welcome but wait times may vary. Santa visits are $5 per child; please register each child.
The main event is free, and registration is required. Parking is available onsite with overflow on the street; allow extra time and consider carpooling or walking.
