Flint Symphony Orchestra: A Grand Evening of Puccini
The Flint Symphony Orchestra, led by Enrique Diemecke, plays an all-Puccini program on Saturday, May 15, 2027, at 7:30 p.m. at Whiting Auditorium in Flint, with Detroit Opera Resident Artists and two choruses. La Bohème anchors the night; tickets start at $28.
Puccini's music runs from tender intimacy to sweeping passion. The program pulls selections from La Bohème and other works, with arias and choral scenes. The Flint Symphony Chorus (director Nada Radakovich), the Flint Youth Chorus (director Danyelle Hillman) and Detroit Opera Resident Artists join the orchestra.
An Inside the Music pre-concert talk starts at 6:30 p.m. At intermission, students 13 and older can go backstage, meet FSO musicians and grab some Enzo's pizza. Pick up the backstage pass at the welcome table before the show.
Good to know: no one under 5 is admitted, including babies in arms. Runtime is about 2 hours with intermission. It's a live full orchestra with percussion, and it gets loud. An ASL interpreter will be on hand; to sit in the ASL section, contact the ticket center or ask an usher on arrival. Save 15% on a package of 3+ shows, groups of 10+ get special pricing, and veterans get a day-of-show offer.
