One Monkey Don’t Stop No Show
Wayne State University Theatre and Dance stages One Monkey Don’t Stop No Show on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. at the Hilberry Gateway in Detroit. Sharp, character-driven comedy with suburban Philly family chaos and romantic tangles. Tickets available.
In suburban Philadelphia, Reverend Avery Harrison clings to his place in the local Black elite while his wife Myra’s slips and son Felix’s newfound sex education spark fresh trouble. Then niece Beverly arrives from the rural South, tied to her late father’s slick partner Caleb—setting off flirty schemes, power plays, and escalating misunderstandings.
Produced by Wayne State University Theatre and Dance at the Hilberry Gateway. If you’re into quick-witted, situation-heavy comedy, this one’s for you. Tickets available.
