Darrin James, blending blues, Motown, folk, and rock, played his new album ‘See Right Through’ on Thursday, February 22, at 8 p.m. at The Ark in Ann Arbor. Scotty Karate and Gregory Stovetop opened the show.
Born in Kentucky and raised in metro Detroit, Darrin James spent a decade in New York before returning to Michigan in 2010. His music mixes southern blues and folk, Detroit Motown soul, and Brooklyn’s eclectic edge. At The Ark, he showcased songs from his latest album, ‘See Right Through,’ which explores the complexities of love and loss. The night opened with Scotty Karate, whose upcoming record is produced by Darrin, and Gregory Stovetop.
