Katie Pruitt – Mantras Tour
Katie Pruitt, the Georgia-born indie-folk singer-songwriter, played at The Ark in Ann Arbor on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 8 p.m. Her sophomore album, Mantras, dives into themes like gender identity and self-love, wrapped in a rich indie-rock sound.
Katie Pruitt gained recognition with her 2020 debut Expectations, exploring her queer upbringing in the Christian South. Her second album, Mantras, takes a closer look at deep personal themes — from gender identity to self-compassion and finding peace amid chaos.
Produced mainly by Collin Pastore and Jake Finch, known for work with boygenius and Lucy Dacus, Mantras blends heartfelt storytelling with indie-rock grooves and driven guitars. Her show at The Ark in Ann Arbor reflected this honest and energetic vibe, connecting the audience with her journey from fear to acceptance and self-trust.
