Studying at the Thelonious Monk Institute in Los Angeles, Glenn Tucker made a rare Detroit appearance. Known for mixing youthful energy with respect for tradition, he blends old and new elements in his music. ‘Sacred and Profane’ draws from spiritual needs with both modern and ancient styles played on acoustic and electric instruments. Joining him were Jake Shadik on tenor sax, Ian Finkelstein on Rhodes and synths, and Kayvon Gordon on drums. The show was held at Cliff Bell’s with free entry.
