Kathy Kosins at Cliff Bell’s
ASCAP award-winning vocalist Kathy Kosins played at Detroit’s Cliff Bell’s on Friday, January 11, 2019, at 9 p.m. Known for blending jazz and soul, she seldom performs in her hometown.
Born and raised in Detroit during the Motown era, Kathy Kosins started as a background vocalist in the early '80s before becoming a sought-after lead singer. Her albums explore jazz and soul, including her latest work, “Uncovered Soul,” produced by a Grammy-winning producer and featuring rare soul and R&B songs.
At this show, she performed tracks from her new projects like “Uncovered Soul” and “To The Ladies Of Cool,” her own originals, and classics, while painting live on stage. Her band featured pianist Mike Jelleck, bassist Marion Hayden, and drummer Sean Dobbins.
