Bassel & The Supernaturals
Bassel Almadani and his band, Bassel & The Supernaturals, played on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 8 p.m. at The Ark in Ann Arbor. They share the story of his Syrian-American heritage through soulful melodies and funk-inspired rhythms.
Bassel & The Supernaturals tell the story of Bassel Almadani as a first-generation Syrian-American through soulful, funk-infused music touching on themes of love, loss, otherness, and the war in Syria. They made their national TV debut in May 2024 in a PBS documentary series starring Dule Hill about the transformative power of the arts. Touring across North America, they perform in various venues and collaborate with organizations supporting Syrian refugees. A portion of proceeds supports the Karam Foundation, which works to improve Syria's future.
