Cole Chaney
25-year-old singer-songwriter Cole Chaney played at The Ark in Ann Arbor on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, debuting his latest album In the Shadow of the Mountain. His sound blends Appalachian folk and '90s rock influences in a fresh way.
Though just 25, Cole Chaney’s been through a rich musical journey. Raised in rural Kentucky Appalachia, he left welding school behind to pursue music and repeatedly sold out Ann Arbor’s well-known venue The Ark. His latest album, In the Shadow of the Mountain, aims for a vibe like Ralph Stanley backed by Soundgarden. If you like a unique mix of rock, folk, and bluegrass wrapped in honest storytelling, his show was worth remembering.
