50 First Jokes
50 rising and veteran comics shared their first jokes of the year on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 8 p.m. at The Ark in Ann Arbor. It was a fast, fresh live comedy show featuring local Michigan voices to kick off the 2026 scene.
This comedy tradition began two decades ago at the Bell House in Brooklyn and has since spread to places like Los Angeles and more. At The Ark in Ann Arbor, 50 comedians took the stage to tell their very first jokes for the new year. The show was lively, fresh, and guaranteed laughs all night long. Tickets had been available online, by phone, or in person at the box office before the event took place.
If you like standup and want to hear what new Michigan comics have to offer, this lineup was a great way to start the year.
