Evan Mercer Trio at Cliff Bell’s
Pianist Evan Mercer played at Detroit’s Cliff Bell’s on Saturday, September 7, at 6 p.m., joined by bassist Samuel Chase Harris and drummer Jake Matthews, all WSU grads. The event had no cover charge.
Evan Mercer, a pianist who tours worldwide with soul singer Bettye LaVette, brought his trio to Cliff Bell’s in Detroit. Samuel Chase Harris handled bass and Jake Matthews was on drums. All three graduated from Wayne State University. The show was free and offered a laid-back jazz night in a cozy venue.
