The Planet D Nonet concert at Cliff Bell’s

Since 2007, the Planet D Nonet has been bringing swing music to southeast Michigan. Their Detroit performance featured Harlem Jive by Fats Waller, plus hits from swing legends like Duke Ellington, Benny Moten, Count Basie, and Fletcher Henderson. The group, led by trumpeter James O’Donnell with vocals also by trombonist John “Tbone” Paxton and featured artist Camille Price, filled Cliff Bell’s with swing energy. The lineup included sax players Alex Colista, Christopher Tabacynski, and Goode Wyche III; brass players James O’Donnell, Charlie Miller, and Tbone Paxton; and the rhythm section of Michael Zaporski, Trevor Lamb, Sean Perlmutter, and RJ Spangler.
