Kasan Belgrave Presents Thy Bearings
Detroit multi-woodwind player Kasan Belgrave played at Cliff Bell’s on Wednesday, February 28, at 7:30 p.m. His show blended Detroit’s musical heritage with the city’s techno scene. Tickets cost $25.
Kasan Belgrave follows in the footsteps of his father, late trumpeter Marcus Belgrave, carrying Detroit’s rich musical history forward. Educated at the University of Michigan and MSU, he studied with jazz greats like Benny Green and Rodney Whitaker. Rooted in Black American music traditions, Kasan also dives into Detroit’s techno scene, having worked with Moodymann, Carl Craig, and others. His concert at Cliff Bell’s brought this unique fusion to life, merging jazz and techno in a truly Detroit manner.
