James Carter Organ Trio
James Carter, one of jazz's most sophisticated improvisers, played with his Organ Trio on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. at cliff bell’s in Detroit. The trio elevates classic organ jazz with virtuosic saxophone and deeply inspired group interplay.
The organ trio was a staple of jazz for decades, known for its blues-influenced, accessible sound. James Carter takes this tradition to another level with his virtuosic saxophone, infusing the music with rich soul and an expertly curated repertoire.
Featuring Detroit’s rising B3 star Gerard Gibbs on organ and drummer Alex White adding dynamic beats, this multigenerational trio has been performing together for seventeen years. The evening at cliff bell’s offered a well-honed, exciting concert experience.
