Hearts and Minds at Cliff Bell’s
Chicago’s Hearts and Minds trio played a jazz set Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. at Detroit’s Cliff Bell’s. Their blend of bass clarinet, analog synth, and drums created a unique sound journey through modern and classic jazz.
Hearts and Minds, the Chicago-based trio led by bass clarinetist Jason Stein and analog synthesist Paul Giallorenzo, delivered a distinctively original jazz performance at Cliff Bell’s in Detroit. The show had two sessions at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. Their music mixed free improvisation with arranged melodies, combining electronic textures and bold bass clarinet lines, all anchored by Chad Taylor’s drums. It was a captivating exploration from jazz roots through electronic influences — a memorable night for those into adventurous jazz sounds.
