The Planet D Nonet celebrated the legacy of Duke Ellington with their Echoes of Harlem: A Salute to Duke Ellington Vol 2 at Cliff Bell’s in Detroit. They played two sets, bringing new arrangements to a repertoire that grew naturally during the touring of their previous album. Their earlier project received major acclaim, topping several jazz charts and appearing on national “best of” lists. This release reflects deep historical appreciation mixed with personal connections and contemporary interpretations, including collaborations and guest vocals from Camille Price. The concert shared Ellington’s timeless sound with a fresh perspective in an intimate club setting.
