Nick Collins Sextet
Drummer and bandleader Nick Collins played with his sextet at the Blue LLama Jazz Club in Ann Arbor on Saturday, October 4, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. He presented high-energy, hard-swinging original songs and some rarely heard tunes.
Nick Collins is a regular at the Blue LLama Jazz Club, leading one of Ann Arbor’s top jazz groups. His sextet featured trumpeter Dwight Adams, saxophonist Andrew Bishop, and trombonist Ben Lafo, with Rick Roe on piano and Jeff Pedraz on bass. Their show combined energetic performance with a fresh, original repertoire full of surprises. Many local jazz legends have played with Nick’s groups before. This night proved why their following keeps growing among fans.
