Randy Napoleon: Waking Dream
Jazz guitarist Randy Napoleon, raised in Ann Arbor, played at the Blue LLama Jazz Club on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, starting at 7 p.m. He shared an evening of passionate guitar jazz blending tradition and fresh sounds.
Born in Brooklyn but raised in Ann Arbor, Randy Napoleon launched his jazz career right after graduating from the University of Michigan. Invited by Jeff Hamilton to perform at the Hollywood Bowl with the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, he toured nationally and internationally, including a stint with Grammy-nominated crooner Michael Bublé. Praised by critics for his nimble finger-style and warm tone, Napoleon brought his passion for jazz guitar to the Blue LLama stage, accompanied by Rick Roe on piano, Rodney Whitaker on bass, and Quincy Davis on drums. It was a night full of soulful and sophisticated jazz guitar.
