Dave McMurray
Detroit-born saxophonist Dave McMurray played Friday, May 22, 2026, at 7 p.m. at the Blue LLama Jazz Club in Ann Arbor. Known for genre-bending style, McMurray sails seamlessly from hard bop to rock and beyond.
Dave McMurray reunited with Blue Note Records thanks to his long friendship with label head and Detroit native Don Was, who gave him freedom to explore his music. Influenced by Detroit’s rich music legacy, McMurray’s saxophone playing carries a singing quality like other city greats. His diverse career includes gigs with B.B. King, Patti Smith, and Herbie Hancock, all showcased during his set at Ann Arbor’s Blue LLama Jazz Club.
