The Josh Linkner Quintet
Jazz guitarist and author Josh Linkner played with his quintet on Thursday, June 9, 2016, at Cliff Bell’s in Detroit. The night mixed classic jazz tunes with unexpected twists and turns.
Josh Linkner brought over 30 years of performance experience to the stage, channeling styles reminiscent of Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, and Pat Martino. His quintet performed modern arrangements of jazz standards, bebop, Latin jazz, and jazz blues. Alongside Josh on guitar, Phil Lesky played piano, Jeff Ponders was on saxophone, “Bang” Glenn on drums, and Kerry Lacy on upright bass. It was a night for those who appreciate refined yet adventurous jazz sounds.
