The Detroit story

Colin Egglesfield was born in Farmington Hills, the northwestern Oakland County suburb of Detroit, the second child of Kathleen and William Egglesfield, a physician. After early work as a model he turned to acting and became known to daytime audiences as Josh Madden on the ABC soap opera All My Children. He moved into prime time as Auggie Kirkpatrick, the chef in The CW's 2009 reboot of Melrose Place, and played Dex, the fiancé caught between two best friends, opposite Ginnifer Goodwin and Kate Hudson in the romantic comedy Something Borrowed (2011). The sources document his birth in Farmington Hills; details of his Michigan upbringing are not recorded.
