01 / The story of this place

Make time for these

Designed by Albert Kahn and completed in 1928 for the Fisher family, the Fisher Building combines a prominent tower with richly decorated ground-floor arcades. The interior details can be even more memorable than its skyline presence. The Fisher Theatre links the complex to Detroit’s performing arts. Look closely at the ceilings, stonework, and ornament rather than treating the lobby simply as a passageway.
