Make time for these

The Lebowsky Center for Performing Arts is a 500-seat theater in downtown Owosso, Michigan, and the only performing arts venue serving Shiawassee County. The building opened in 1926 as the Capitol Theater and carries the name of Joseph Lebowsky, who opened it. Resident productions have been staged there since the 1990s, more than 350 shows in all. In February 2007, during rehearsals for Beauty and the Beast, a fire gutted the stage and seating area. The community rebuilt, and the center reopened in 2014. Today the Lebowsky Center produces a full season of musicals and plays, performed by a volunteer company cast through competitive auditions. It also presents touring artists and offers arts education for students of all ages. The 2026–27 season marks the building's 100th anniversary.
