Make time for these

The 2,000-seat Miles opened on May 15, 1910, on Griswold Street just north of State Street. Through the 1910s it was one of Detroit's top vaudeville houses, a rival of the Temple and the nearby Garrick. Kees & Colburn of Minneapolis designed it, with Detroit's George D. Mason as supervising architect. As movies and the new palaces took over in the 1920s, vaudeville faded and the Miles went out of business; its final night was November 28, 1927. It was demolished around May 1928 to make way for the Griswold Building, which still stands as The Albert.
