Make time for these

The Bay Theatre opened on February 12, 1946 in downtown Suttons Bay on the Leelanau Peninsula. For decades it was a family-owned house known for hand-picked foreign, independent and first-run films. When the family theater was set to close in December 2018, residents formed the nonprofit Bay Community Theatre, which showed its first film on January 1, 2019. It's run almost entirely by volunteers. Besides movies, the 452-seat house hosts live performances and literary programs.

  • In downtown Suttons Bay since 1946
  • Saved by residents, nonprofit since 2019
  • Live performances and literary programs too
