Music has
a home address.

Motown, jazz, techno. Three sounds, one city, a whole lot of stories. Get into the groove, then find your kind of night.

SIDE A / MOTOWN

From one little house to the world.

Inside Hitsville’s Studio A, the Funk Brothers helped shape the Motown sound. Gospel, jazz, call-and-response vocals, and an irresistible rhythm carried Detroit’s Black musical heritage around the world.

SIDE C / TECHNO

The city that found a new beat.

Detroit is the birthplace of techno. Riverfront Hart Plaza is a landmark setting for the city’s electronic music gatherings: an industrial skyline, open sky, and a shared beat.

Hitsville U.S.A.

Berry Gordy set out to build his own record label in 1959. The little house on West Grand Boulevard became one of the best-known addresses in the Motown story.

Before you plan: guided Hitsville tours are paused during expansion, with reopening planned for spring 2027. Check the museum’s other programs and latest updates separately.
